What services do CWRT offer?Within the refuge and through the domestic violence helpline we can offer emotional support and advice on housing, benefits and the effects of domestic violence within families. The refuge project workers are all trained to be able to offer emotional support and practical advice to the refuge residents and helpline callers. Each refuge resident will be given a key worker to initially assess their support needs and to develop a support plan with the client. This support plan is reviewed (with the client) and followed throughout the woman’s stay at the refuge. The project workers can also accompany residents to appointments with other agencies. Within the refuge we have a Child and Family
Support Team who can offer emotional support to the children
and young people who come to the refuge with their mothers. CWRT have a team of counsellors who provide additional support to women in the refuge and to women out in the community. Within the refuge we have regular drop in sessions provided by health visitors and the local college. Depending on current funding the refuge also has groups such as yoga and card making. CWRT is currently hosting Broken Rainbow Cornwall, a project which supports individuals from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender who have or who are experiencing domestic abuse.
